Setting card limits that people actually respect

A simple way to pick monthly amounts, block categories and keep exceptions rare.

A limit only works if people trust it. Too tight and they ask for exceptions every week. Too loose and it means nothing.

Start from real spending

Look at what each person spent over the last three months and add a small margin, around fifteen percent. That number feels fair because it is based on their own work.

Block categories, not people

Instead of lowering limits, block the categories nobody needs. A designer rarely needs fuel, and a driver rarely needs software.

“The best limit is one people forget about because it never gets in the way.”

Keep exceptions rare

  • Allow one quick request from the app

  • Approve or decline within the hour

  • Review limits every quarter, not every month
