The story

Tideline Films shoots on location with crews of up to eleven people. Every shoot day used to start the same way: the producer handing out cash for per diems and paying for gear rentals on her own card.

Eleven people, one wallet

By the end of a three week shoot there were envelopes of receipts, a spreadsheet nobody trusted and a producer who was owed money by her own company.

A card for every department

Now camera, sound, art and catering each get a card with a budget for the shoot. Per diems load onto personal cards every morning and stop the day the shoot wraps.

“I used to spend the first week after a shoot chasing receipts. Now the books are closed before the edit starts.”
